Koman Properties, Inc. is a Clayton, Mo., based real estate company specializing in the development of retail centers. James G. Koman, a local real estate developer, serves as president of the company. Since its founding in 1994, Koman Properties has established a reputation as one of the premier real estate developers in the Midwest. The firm also is a preferred Walgreens’ developer in Southern Illinois and Missouri. Through Koman Properties, Inc. and related entities, Mr. Koman has developed more than 3.6 million square feet of retail assets over the past 14 years, including more than 36 Walgreen properties. Koman Properties, Inc. currently has a development pipeline value of over $300M in the Missouri, Illinois, and Georgia marketplaces.

The firm’s success is the direct result of its fully integrated real estate capabilities, including the ability to acquire, develop and lease real estate for projects of any size. Sample projects range from single-tenant projects, to 500,000-square-foot power centers, to mixed-use developments that are bringing the new urbanism concept to life. Inner-city redevelopment has always been an area of interest for the company. Among the firm’s signature projects in the St. Louis metropolitan area is the first major retail development in East St. Louis, Ill., in decades, which President Clinton visited in July, 1999.

Mr. Koman also is a part owner and current president of the Casino Queen gaming operation in East St. Louis, Ill., which completed a $60 million expansion project in the Summer of 2007. The Casino Queen is the largest contributor to the city’s revenue funds and the largest private employer in the city, with more than 1,100 employees.

Mr. Koman is also Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Equity Capital Management, LLC, a private equity investment firm specializing in commercial net lease real estate funds.
